Patagonia derived its name from the 15-foot tall mythical giants (Patagones, or “Big Feet”) that Magellan reported to have encountered during his 16th century circumnavigation of the globe. Of course, those giants have never been seen again, but Patagonia still harbours countless oversized natural wonders.
